What is National Event Production?

National event production is the planning, coordination and technical delivery of an event wherever it takes place. That can mean audio, lighting, staging, video, live streaming, power, rigging and the technicians needed to bring it all together – whether that’s one event or a programme of events across multiple locations.

You’ve found the venue. You’ve got a rough idea of your budget. Now you need a production partner, and chances are, the first thing you do is check how close they are to the venue.

Why Location Isn’t the whole picture

The postcode of your AV partner isn’t a measure of production capability. What matters is whether your production partner has the experience, people and planning to deliver the event properly – wherever the event takes place.

Completing on average 185 events a year and having been in the industry as long as we have means we’ve worked across a range of event formats and environments. Over 16 years, from boardrooms to festival stages. The record for a single job stands at 5,100 miles because “too far” isn’t a phrase we use.

What National Event Production Really Involves

A different venue, different formats, the same high standards every time, that’s the job. When we talk about delivery, we mean audio systems, lighting design, technical production, set and staging, live streaming, power distribution, and rigging.

From planning events from scratch, we understand that none of these exists in isolation.

What to Ask Any Production Company Before You Commit

Choosing a production partner? These are four questions worth asking before you commit.

A grey map of the UK with a blue background featuring pin points where JHAV have worked nationally.

  1. How do you brief and coordinate the crew across locations?
Are supplier relationships, crew briefings, and technical rides standardised across every location? How do you make sure a crew in one city gets the same brief as a crew in another?
  2. What does your contingency planning look like?
What’s your process if something happens on the day? Who makes the call? And how fast?
  3. Can you walk me through the brief?
What have you spotted in the brief that I hadn’t flagged myself? What questions does the brief raise for you?
  4. How is your crew model structured?
Do you have a core team with a consistent extended network? Or is it a freshly assembled team every time? How long have key people worked together?

How JHAV Works Nationally

JHAV is a technically led, people-first national event production company. We’re proud of our South West roots, but our work takes us so much further around the UK and beyond. 5,100 miles is our record for how far we’ve travelled to deliver a single event.

A large conference room all set up for the National Neurology Transformation meeting.

At London Paddington Station, we built and installed a live activation for GWR’s new hybrid Wi-Fi launch, working inside a live railway environment with a three-person install team, a four-night build window, and Network Rail’s operational schedule dictating every move. In Birmingham, we ran full technical production for the National Neurology Transformation Meeting at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, then cleared and reset the entire room in the two hours between that event finishing and the next one starting. No delays, no drift. It’s now an annual event.

For both jobs, and every job we take on, what mattered was our people, the expertise to handle a complex brief, and the judgement to solve it when the day doesn’t go to plan. We work from our own trusted network of freelancers who share the same delivery standard, so nobody’s learning unfamiliar kit on the day. It’s a model built on reputation and recommendation, not geography, and it holds whether we’re working in London, Manchester, or Glasgow.

Agencies and in-house teams come back to us because they know they’ll get production management that holds it all together, support that means someone always picks up, and a crew that catches a problem before it becomes one.

Planning a National Event? Let’s Talk.

Fifty miles or five thousand, let’s chat. We want to understand the site, plan it properly, bring the right kit, and put people on it who know what they’re doing. That holds true wherever the postcode lands.

Got something coming up? Tell us where it is and what you’ve got planned. We’ll tell you honestly what it takes to deliver, wherever that turns out to be.

Quick-Fire FAQs

What is national event production?
National event production means delivering the same standard of technical production wherever an event takes place. This can include audio, lighting, staging, video, live streaming, power and rigging, alongside the planning and people needed to bring it all together. The “national” part isn’t about having offices scattered around the country; it’s the crew network, equipment and the processes that hold that standard wherever the job lands.

How do I choose a national event production company?
Look for proven experience delivering events across different locations, venues and formats. Case studies can give you a good indication of the scale and complexity a company has handled. Questions about crew, contingency planning, technical coordination and the wider production process can help you understand how they work.

What should I look for in a national event production company?
Look for a company with strong technical knowledge, experienced crew and reliable supplier networks, and a clear approach to planning and coordination. The right production partner should understand the details behind your brief, carry out detailed planning and have the experience to manage the production from concept through to delivery.

What does production management involve and why is it important?
Production management brings the different elements of an event together. It covers planning, technical coordination, equipment, crew, timings, venue requirements and on-site delivery, making sure everything works together as one production. For more complex events, it also provides a clear point of responsibility for the technical delivery.

JHAV: The AV Company Built for Every Event

In the event industry, we see ourselves as more than “just another AV company”.

Think of JHAV as the events multi-tool: the tough case that holds everything together, with each component – our people, technical expertise and equipment – deployed exactly where it’s needed. The goal? To make you confident that JHAV can handle every aspect of your event, whatever sector it sits in.

One question we’re regularly asked is, “What type of events do you support?

In truth, it’s easier to ask what we don’t.

Each has its own pressures, audiences and technical demands. The underlying requirement is the same: dependable production that allows the event to run as planned.

Why a Modern AV Company Must be Versatile

The old days of AV companies being pigeonholed are largely gone. Specialisation still matters, but flexibility has become just as valuable. That shift is good news for clients.

Traditional event seasons have blurred. There is no longer just “corporate season” and “festival season”. Corporate summer parties sit alongside the outdoor festivals and light trails extending beyond winter calendars. Conferences increasingly incorporate immersive elements, and brand events borrow techniques from live music environments.

Many of the most exciting ideas now come from this crossover between sectors. What works at festivals can elevate a corporate activation. Solutions we develop and refine in one space can often be built upon all the sectors of events.

For clients, that cross-pollination translates into more engaging experiences — delivered with the reassurance of proven technical planning.

Heligan Homecoming: Corporate AV in a Historic Venue

In June 2025, we put that versatility into practice at Heligan Homecoming, held at Lost Gardens of Heligan. The brief combined elements of what would appear to be a corporate speaker setup, combined with elements from live performances and festivals, all within a historic outdoor setting.

We installed 3mm outdoor LED screens to provide a clear backdrop for inspirational speakers, household names and musicians. Crystal clear audio was achieved using Allen and Heath, D&B Audiotechnik and Sennheiser, supporting both live performances and a BBC Radio 4 recording for Loose Ends.

The setting provided numerous logistical challenges of its own. Equipment was transported through the walled gardens and across uneven terrain while maintaining quality and protecting the historic environment.

A Bespoke Audio-Visual Installation Company

This is just one example. Our crews, systems and workflows are designed to adapt to different environments and audiences.

With a warehouse full of specialist production and AV equipment for all sectors. More importantly, we assemble teams tailored to the needs of each job, ensuring the right technical expertise is on-site.

Delivering across sectors also means planning for change, as events rarely remain static. Guest numbers grow, and additional spaces or elements are introduced as plans develop. Our production planning allows systems to scale alongside these changes, often without the need for a complete redesign. This flexibility protects a project’s budget and timeline while allowing organisers freedom to refine details, ensuring the final event reflects the original vision rather than a compromise.

The Future of Event Production

As events continue to evolve, production expectations rise. Seamless integration, crisp visuals that remain clear in any lighting conditions and immersive elements that create memorable moments for both physical and remote attendees are the norm.

We continue to work with emerging technologies, new techniques and efficient solutions that balance creativity with reliability. By refining our workflows and investing in durable, high-performance equipment, we help ensure events run smoothly.

Your One-Stop AV Partner

Our goal is simple: to be a reliable, one-stop AV solution for our clients throughout the year, regardless of event type or complexity. Best of all, we enjoy the variety. Moving between sectors fuels creativity and allows us to continually innovate and problem-solve for our clients.

JHAV delivers events nationwide and has supported productions internationally too. Our teams and systems are structured to scale and travel, ensuring consistent standards wherever your event takes you.

Whatever your next event looks like – corporate, creative, intimate or something entirely new – JHAV is ready to make it happen. Let’s solve your next challenge together.
