JHAV Crew

Meet the Team

Jamie's character (with Frank the dog)

Jamie

Managing Director

Jamie works on the corporate side of the business and has over two decades’ experience dealing with blue chip companies and video technology. Jamie thrives on offering clients state of the art technology and service that exceeds all expectations. The success of JHAV? It’s down to the quality and commitment of the people that work in it.

The most influential person Jamie’s bumped into on a JHAV event was Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, he was dressed as a 7 foot tall goth rocker! If you’re coming to the office for a visit, bring some biscuits, fruit ones are Jamie’s favourite.

John's character

John

Head of Production/Project Manager

John’s years of production management mean he’s amassed a wealth of knowledge. He works on our special projects dealing with all aspects of event production and health and safety on site. A lighting designer at heart, he’s passionate about delivering unique events.

We asked John: what’s the most memorable JHAV event you’ve worked on?

“Without a doubt, Illuminate Festival of Light. Playing a lead role in bringing a light festival of that scale to Plymouth has been an amazing experience. I’ve worked with student and internationally acclaimed artists whilst also getting the opportunity to be creative myself! Watching people walk around the site, listening to their conversations and how much they enjoy it makes all the hard work worthwhile.”

Sarah's character

Sarah

Office Manager

Sarah is the glue that holds the JHAV office and team together.

Based in Liskeard she’s often the first point of contact for clients. When she asks how you are – she means it. After more than 20 years as an event hire office manager, Sarah knows all too well the long hours event teams put into delivering for their clients. She also gives the best hugs on this side of the Tamar.

Sarah’s hobbies include exploring the beautiful Cornish countryside with the family and their two dogs! And if you’re making coffee, hers is a flat white, please.

Jerome's character

Jerome

Event Technician/Project Coordinator

Personable and always with a smile, Jerome’s attention to detail on site is first class. He loves a bit of banter and is never afraid to ask a question. Jerome likes supporting local bands and musicians. He has lots of hobbies including photography, coarse fishing, clay pigeon shooting and national hunt horse racing (both watching and syndicated ownership!).

We asked Jerome: what’s the best part of working for JHAV?

For me JHAV is definitely a continuously growing company but manages to keep the close-knit community and family feel. JHAV gives staff and freelancers the opportunity to grow and build their skills with a solid support network behind them.

Hannah

Production Coordinator

Hannah co-ordinates with the in-house team to help manage crew, accommodation booking and transport logistics. She also oversees our social media and marketing. Hannah enjoys working at JHAV because every day is different and she can put her organisational and creative skills to good use.

Hannah has many hobbies outside work, including exploring the West Country, photography, sea swimming, and crafting. Hannah has recently rehomed a cat who is more interested in napping than exploring!

Tim

Project Manager

Working across lighting design, production management, and technical management, Tim’s role at JHAV is often varied & always interesting…

He has worked alongside a spectrum of creative artists in a wide range of disciplines, but having a particular passion for dance lighting, he has been lucky enough to design & support many companies to create beautiful work in far-flung locations from Essen to Florence, Jakarta [Indonesia] to Seoul [South Korea] and many more…

Over the last year at JHAV he has managed an international Anthropy Forum at the Eden Project, helped to design & build a life-size model of the Scillonian II and rigged Xmas lights to illuminate Dartmoor Zoo, whilst being stalked by a Jaguar and a Tiger [thankfully, not at the same time!]

Tim has built up a wealth of knowledge over 20 years in the technical industries and combines these experiences with a positive and creative nature to make sure our clients get the most from every element of their event.

One of Tim’s favourite projects at JHAV involved the design and installation of lighting and projection at Corbyn Head in Torquay to portray a dialogue between the cliff faces and explore the stories that can be found below the surface.

Stewart

Warehouse Supervisor

Stewart may be a new addition to the team, but he spent many years working closely with us as a JHAV client prior to coming on board. As Warehouse Supervisor, it’s Stewart’s job to ensure the warehouse runs like a well-oiled machine and is always on hand to help the team with any issues, putting his 35 years of industry experience to good use. Stewart likes that JHAV is a close knit, family-run business where the team look out for each other every day.

Outside of work, Stewart is currently renovating his sixth house, an 18th century farmhouse. He is a big fan of milk chocolate hobnobs, 80s music and The Italian Job (but definitely not the remake!). Stewart also plays the trombone, but is currently suffering from lack of practice.

Oliver

JHAV Technician

Having had an interest in the world of events from a young age, joining JHAV as a technician was a natural step for Oliver. He has built up a wealth of practical experience and has become a highly respected member of the team. Specialising in lighting design, installation and operation, Oliver’s role is varied and means he can be found in the warehouse prepping kit one day and out installing lighting and staging at an event the next.

Oliver enjoys his role because it allows him to work collaboratively with the whole JHAV team on a variety of projects in a variety of locations. He also likes that working as a technician allows him to see behind the scenes of a range of events. Oliver spends most of his free time with his friends and enjoys going on long walks with his family and their dogs.

Freelancers

We regularly enlist the skills and knowledge of a network of specialist freelancers who act as an extension of our team.

Our freelancers are some of the best in the country and support us on a range of disciplines such as lighting, audio, installations and production. We couldn’t do this without them!
